The Fishery

Fly fishing at its best! Carsington Water is a stunning trout fishery situated in the heart of the spectacular Derbyshire countryside.  Its natural beauty, tranquil atmosphere, crystal clear waters and fantastic fish combine to make Carsington Water a must for anglers.  Its gin clear waters are stocked and fish are stocked weekly throughout the season with fish up to 5lb and in Carsington Waters’ food rich waters the abundant aquatic life means that these fish grow on naturally and are fighting fit.

The 2009 season will open on Saturday 21st March and will run until Sunday 18th October

pike fishing

As we have had many requests for Pike fishing here at Carsington Water this year we have decided to allow pike fishing from boats in October.

• The dates Pike fishing will be allowed are from the 1st October until the 19th October.
• From the 7th October all fishing will be restricted to the recreational half of the reservoir (south of the orange buoy line).
• Pike fishing will be from boats only.
• Pike Fishing will be with Fly or Lure only and all Fly's must be a minimum of 4" (10cm) and Lures must be a minimum of 6" (15cm)
• All Pike must be returned.
• The cost will be £12.00 for the fishing and £22.00 for a full day boat and £15.00 for a half day boat.

Bank Fishing

Carsington has 2 miles of bank fishing divided into two main areas; Millfields and Sheepwash.  Millfields bank provides one and a half miles of bank angling in large fields and smaller clearings. Sheepwash bank provides a further half a mile of fishing.  Parking is available at both Millfields and Sheepwash.

Boat fishing

Carsington has 22 boats available for hire, all of which are equipped with petrol outboards. All boats are supplied with oars and anchor.  Full day, Half day and Evening* boats can be booked. It is recommended to book your boat in advance to avoid disappointment. For all bookings please phone 01629 540 478.

We are open from 8.30 until sunset during the fishing season.  Come and enjoy a great day’s fishing!

* Please note evening fishing is only available after 5.00pm from the 1st May until 31st August 2008.
